It’s that magical time of year again when we must tally the outcomes of our hard work, pay our dues and clear the desk of the years activity. Yes I’m talking about TAXES!

There are many common questions regarding this oh so fun of responsibilities, the biggest being: how much money do you have to make to file taxes? The answer to this and many more questions regarding the completion of your taxes depends on many variables. Your age, how your filling and how you receive your income are the top three but there are other things to consider as well.

If you are new to filing taxes, the first thing that I would say would be to hire a tax accountant or take a class on tax preparation. The professional knowledge of someone experienced in tax preparation can be very useful, especially to someone just getting into this. One situation where I would, without a doubt, hire a professional is if you are self employed and responsible for keeping track of all your incomes. The biggest benefit to this is that they will be able to answer your most important question, the question of what can I deduct on my taxes? This is the single biggest benefit to working for your self but if you don’t know the answer, then you may find yourself completely confused on what to do.

For those of you who are employed, you usually have it much easier. Your employer should be able to, and is most likely obligated to, give you a full report on what you earned in the year and what portion of that money was allocated to things such as social security, benefits, and health care. If your in this situation, then you might want to get some basic rules down and file the tax forms yourself. Free printable tax forms can be found by clicking here

Regardless of what your situation is, basic tax accounting is going to be something that you will have to do for the rest of your life so you should first of all get use to it and find a system that works where you can stay organized and keep track of all your important documents. When it comes did i make enough to file taxes time to file, you will save yourself a lot of stress and anxiety if all you have to do is print a few things out and then fill in the boxes. Or better yet, hand it all to your tax preparer and just ask them when is my tax relief check coming in? Hopefully you will be getting a refund check and not be needing to pay more instead. Again, this depends on your personal situation so make sure you do your homework and learn as much as you can.
